Financial
aid consists of grants, scholarships, loans, and employment
opportunities that are available to help students pay
for the cost of attending the university. Most financial
aid resources are based on your documented financial
need and are intended to supplement, not to replace,
your financial resources. Financial need is determined
from the information you supply on theFree
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Grants:
Gift assistance awarded on the basis of financial need
and requires no repayment.
Scholarships:
Gift assistance awarded on the basis of academic achievement
or other special ability and requires no repayment.
Financial need may be a factor in some awards.
Loans:
Money that must be repaid at a future date, usually
following graduation or when you cease to be enrolled
on at least a half time basis. Need- and non-need-based
loans are available.
Employment:
A work-study program of on-or off-campus jobs that involves
a direct exchange of money (at least the federal hourly
minimum wage) for work performed. Work-study is awarded
on the basis of financial need.
WSU Scholarships for undergraduate students and graduate students are listed on the scholarships page of this Web site. Scholarships and fellowships specifically for graduate students are described on The Graduate School Web site.
